Osage Orange
Botanical Name: (Maclura tinctoria)
This Argentine species of Osage Orange is a rich-yellow color. Consisting of darker- and lighter-yellow bands. Very stable, durable and strong. Much larger, higher-quality lumber than available from American Osage Tap tone that has been compared to Brazillian RW. This wood has very straight grain, a very fast response and long sustain, just what the doctor ordered. Osage also makes a terrific bridge plate so save all of your left overs ! U.S.A. Osage is difficult to obtain as it usually doesn't grow very straight and the trunks are typically small in diameter. If you haven't tried Osage I would encourage you to as it is a very underestimated tonewood in all respects.
